Martins Ferry – The Michalski Orthopedic Center, with offices at East Ohio Regional Hospital on North Fourth Street in Martins Ferry, Ohio is among those businesses honored with the distinction of having been voted “The Best of the Valley.” The man at the center of this highly successful orthopedic practice is Dr. John Michalski.

His educational experience was largely centered in Philadelphia and included completing programs at Jefferson, Chestnut Hill, and Albert Einstein Medical Centers. Following his training, Michalski served 16 years on active duty with the U.S. Navy, during which time he focused on sub-specialties sports service and arthritis care. His military tour of duty was followed by four years in practice in the Pittsburgh area, before ultimately relocating his practice to Martins Ferry and East Ohio Regional Hospital in 2000.

In addition to continuing to expand his knowledge base and professional skill set, Michalski’s passion for bringing new and better technologies and surgical techniques to his patients never waivers. “We want to make this the best experience we can for every patient who comes to us for help,” shared Michalski. “I don’t like to jump too fast to a surgical solution as being that patient’s only thing from which to choose,” said the local surgeon.

A Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, Michalski’s practice can best be described as focusing on patients in need of care involving bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. In layman’s terms his practice specializes in caring for orthopedic problems impacting a patient from the shoulder through the fingertips, and from hip to toe. Orthopedic Surgeons specialize in surgical procedures treating conditions of the musculoskeletal system, and also perform nonsurgical techniques to treat a wide variety of things including sports injuries, congenital disorders, and degenerative diseases affecting the bones and surrounding muscle and joints.
